SYSTEM INFORMATION
The Rivercrest Water District #2 purchases its water from the Town of Glenville. Glenville's water supply system is located west of the Village of Scotia, between NY State Route 5 and the Mohawk River, actually a little west of the Route 5 and VanBuren Lane intersection. The water is taken from the great flats aquifer through four wells. The aquifer is an extensive bed of sand and gravel underlying the Mohawk river channel, which produces a clear clean water without any major chemical constituents except the hardness. The water through its 36 years of use has been negative for coliform bacteria and there have been no bacterial or chemical problems with the water.
The water is not treated by the Rivercrest Water District #2 but is tested quarterly in accordance with State regulations. A Chlorine residual of 0.2 is maintained.
