If you own property in the Town of Clifton Park, and it is
your primary residence, you may be eligible for certain exemptions. The
Town of Clifton Park wants to remind all residential owners to submit their
exemption application by March 2, 2009. Please call the Assessor's

STAR - SCHOOL TAX RELIEF PROGRAMS
A Basic STAR exemption is available to everyone who
has a primary residence in Clifton Park and does not have a homestead
exemption in another state. There is no income limit. You need apply
only once, unless you move or change ownership.
An Enhanced STAR exemption is available to all
property owners who will be 65 years of age by December 31, 2009, and
have an adjusted gross income of $73,000 or less on their 2007 tax return.
If you file a New York State Income Tax Return you may elect to renew every year
by filling out a renewal application or you may elect to join the Optional
Income Verification Program for ensuing years. Both the STAR Exemption

An Enhanced Renewal Exemption form is available to all
Senior Enhanced Applicants who wish to renew their Enhanced STAR by submitting
their documentation every year instead of having the Assessor's Office verify
the information with New York State Department of Taxation through an Income
Verification Form. The following form should be used for Enhanced
Renewals:
A Limited Income Senior Exemption/Enhanced STAR,
offered by the Town, is also available. This exemption uses the previous
year's income information, has a much lower total income allowance and must be
filled out every year. At the present time the maximum income allowed is
$35,400 minus IRA distributions. A substantial amount of documentation
will be needed for this exemption. Please call the Assessor's Office,

VETERAN'S EXEMPTION
An Alternative Veteran's Exemption is offered for people who were
in active service (exclusive of training) during certain war time periods.
You do not need to submit a copy of your deed, but will need a copy of your DD
214 with your application.
A Cold War Veteran's Exemption is offered for people who were in active
service during peacetime or during Cold War Period. You do not need to
submit a copy of your deed, but we will need a copy of your DD 214 with your
application.
NOTE: Some of the forms mentioned above are also available at the
Clifton Park Town Hall, the Senior Citizen Center at Clifton Commons, and the
Shenendehowa Library. The application and a copy of all necessary
documentation must be received in the Town Assessor's Office no later
