International History
Rotary International was started in 1905 by a lonely Chicago businessperson named Paul Harris who felt the need to know other professional business persons in his city to enrich his own life and improve the community by serving and helping others.

Shenendehowa Rotary History
The Rotary Club of Shenendehowa was admitted to Rotary International on January 29, 1958 with 28 Charter members, Fred Droms, as President, adopted the standard Club Constitution prescribed by Rotary International. Currently the Board of Directors is comprised of eleven members, President, President Elect, President Elect Nominee, Treasurer, Secretary, Immediate Past President, Board Member at Large & the directors of the Four Avenues of Service

The club is pledged in its desire to develop true Rotarians and a Rotary Club that will function properly as a unit in Rotary International. to maintain the following fundamental characteristics of Rotary:

a. The Classification principle of membership.
b. Attendance, at least in the required minimum, for continuance of membership
c. Fellowship, in the establishment of intimate and lasting friendships
d. The use of the club meeting in the making of broader and better business members in training members to become more capable of rendering service in their vocations and in the community in which they live or work.
e. The requirement that members strive for the betterment of their craft, particularly stressing higher business standards and practices.
f. An obligation to do effective but non-duplicative service in their community, state or province and Country.
g. Service to mankind
h. The advancement of international understanding, good will and peace.
