HISTORY
The Rexford Water District #2 was formed by the people in Rexford in the Mid 70’s after voters turned down a town wide referendum for a water district.
The district serves the Western part of the town of Clifton Park.
The water district is governed by a board of Water Commissioners. The Resolution creating the Rexford Water District #2 designated the Town Board Members as the Commissioners. In the early 80’s the Rexford Home Owners Association asked the Commissioners to form an advisory committee to advise them on matters involving the District. This committee, “Rexford Water District #2 Study Committee”, is currently active. This committee serves as an advisory body. It does not have any legislative or finical authority.
The Commissioners can be reached at Town Hall on 371-6651.
The district has just completed a Capitol Improvement Project which increased the water pressure on an average of between 20 and 25 PSI. This project had been planned for several years.
SOURCE
The district obtains water from the Town of Glenville. Glenville obtains its water from the great flats aquifer through 4 wells which produces a clear clean water without any major chemical constituents except the hardness. A portion of the water is treated by Glenville with ion exchange water softeners to reduce hardness. The treated water is then combined with untreated water and chlorinated. The Rexford Water District #2 does not treat the water.
SYSTEM STATISTICS
The district delivers approx. 65 million gallons of water to its users annually.
