JobAssist F.A.Q.
How will employers get in touch with me?
Employers will contact the JobAssist Coordinator and the
JobAssist Coordinator will contact you by phone or
e-mail with specifics of the Job opening and contact
info for the employer. You will then contact the
employer and set up an interview!
I don’t have any work experience, how am I ever going
to get a job?
Chances are, you have skills, hobbies, or volunteer
experience that would make you a good applicant for the
job. Employers are even interested in school clubs and
activities you participate in. Remember, any experience
counts!
What kind of jobs can I get?
All types of job are available and new opportunities
come in every single day! Job types can vary from
full-time and part-time, to occasional jobs like raking
leaves and babysitting.
We’re only 13 and 14, are there any jobs we can do?
Yes! There are lots of jobs you can do after-school,
weekends, and during the summer. There are a few special
rules for your age group, and don’t expect to be waiting
tables or anything, but expect to receive offers for
occasional and summer jobs.
Do you give out my phone number?
No, JobAssist does not give out teen information to
employers. Instead, JobAssist will contact you with the
employer’s information so that you may contact them.
Am I definitely going to get a job?
Well, your chances are extremely high, and you will
certainly be offered opportunities. The JobAssist
Coordinator will keep track of what opportunities you
have accepted and what you have turned down. In other
words, you are definitely going to have opportunities,
and you must make sure to act upon them in order to get
the interview and hiring process started. Whether or not
you will be hired is strictly between you and the
employer. Stating on the application that you heard
about the job opportunity through JobAssist will benefit
you, as it shows the employer you are self-motivated and
enthusiastic enough to sign up with our program.
