Inventor’s Parents
Your
support and encouragement is very important to your child’s success at
school, and we ask you to support your child in joining this special Encourage your child to participate in this extra-curricular enrichment program by having your child invent a problem-solver in your home! Please provide positive reinforcement by encouraging ideas, even those that may seen unfamiliar or unusual, especially in the early stages of the program. Your involvement is strongly encouraged;
however, it is important that the invention ideas, illustrations and
descriptions are your child’s own.
Parents are invited to assist children in making and photographing
the inventor’s model since the inventions will be judged on the
child’s ideas, not on the model. Parents
may also provide advice concerning research.
Parents are not allowed to assist children of any age with the
required diagram of the invention. Grades K-3 Only! Your
child may dictate his/her ideas for the display board for you to type or
write. You MUST
transcribe
your child’s actual words and
you should
not
paraphrase! MIDDLE SCHOOL INVENTORS: You know how to invent! You are the leaders of this program! So, try harder with the ideas, spelling, grammar, punctuation and diagramming! Parental involvement should be less with these wiz-kids! INVENTOR'S
