NYS LEAH membership benefits

Homeschooling support starts at the local level, where you have the opportunity to meet people who live and home educate near you. Therefore, in order to join New York State LEAH, you must join a local chapter, of which Saratoga LEAH is one of well over a 100. In addition to the benefits of the local chapter, membership also includes membership in the state-wide LEAH.

Each year in Syracuse NYS LEAH hosts a large statewide homeschooling convention; members receive a discounted admission to this convention. LEAH members also receive a 15% discount on the membership fee of Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). NYS LEAH staff members monitor legislation that will effect the homeschooling regulations, and provides members with alerts to allow them to call or write their legislators. In addition, NYS LEAH publishes a quarterly newsletter that is mailed to members.

Saratoga LEAH is the local chapter of New York Loving Education At Home (LEAH), a Christian organization made up of like-minded homeschooling families who are dedicated to observing the Biblical commands of Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Proverbs 22:6 and Ephesians 6:4. We believe that every family has the God-giten legal and constitutional right to home educate, regardless of their philosophy of education or religious affiliation. Saratoga LEAH is not a church, nor is this organization meant to replace the ministry of the local church to the homeschooling family.

The purpose of our organization is to support families involved in or interested in home education, through encouragement, information, activities and fellowship. Aspects of this support include, but is not limited to:

- Helping new homeschooling families get started.
- Providing a newsletter to keep our homeschooling families in touch.
- Providing and encouraging support & Training for parents through such activities as the monthly support group meetings.
- Providing opportunities for children and families to interact through planned educational & recreational activities.
- Encouraging participation in regional and state-wide homeschool events such as the Annual NYS LEAH Home School Convention.

Be aware that members plan the activities; the opportunities for activities is only limited by the imagination and abilities of our members!
