Nash Family, and home, Clifton Park Center Nash House, across from the church, Clifton park Center, c. 1890. The Nash family is posed in front of their farmhouse. From left to right: (front row, seated) Lydia Benedict Nash, Alva Nash (husband of Lydia Benedict), Abby Nash Peck, Guy Peck, John Foote Peck (husband of Abby Nash), and Harriet Peck; (back row, standing) Andrew Nash, Charles Nash, Miss Ide (a boarder), unknown, and Miss Selmer (a boarder). Families were proud of their homes, and from the early days of photography in the 1860s to the 1920s, families would often have their photographs taken in front of their houses. These photographs provide wonderful documentation of the early families and homesteads of Clifton Park. Excerpts taken from the book "Images of America CLIFTON PARK' by John L. Scherer. This book, as well as John Scherer's new book coming out in April, are available the Town of Clifton Park's Office of Parks, Recreation, and Community Affairs. |
