Did you take the perfect vacation last year and want to turn that experience into an article for publication? Maybe it wasn’t so perfect − in fact, it was a disaster from the minute you arrived in the airport − but you'd like to write about it. Or perhaps you have an upcoming trip and want to learn what steps you can take to assure that you’ll create a saleable story.
Whether you want to publish articles about your adventures, write a travel memoir, or just make the e-mails you send home more descriptive, this workshop is for you. We’ll do writing exercises to get the juices flowing and discuss how to keep a travel journal, take memorable photos, and uncover the unique slant that can make your story stand out. If you’ve already completed a piece and want to polish it or find out possible places to submit it, please bring it along.
Instructor: Kathe Kokolias is a writer and photographer living in Colonie, NY and Ixtapa, Mexico and she is the author of Spandex & Black Boots: Essays From an Abundant Life. She has read her essays on NPR and has published in newspaper, magazines and anthologies including Travelers’ Tales, A Woman’s World Again. Her travel memoir, What Time do the Crocodiles Come Out? will be published this summer.
