The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library is pleased to offer free tax preparation assistance through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) in 2013 for those whose incomes are lower than $50,000. This program is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Department of Tax and Finance and provided by the Saratoga County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Tax preparation will be on Wednesday evening’s through April 10 from 5-7 PM. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis, numbers will be given out at the Welcome Desk. No appointments will be taken. Availability is limited.
All VITA tax help will take place on the first floor in the Board Room at the Library. There is no charge for this assistance. Taxpayers must bring their Social Security cards and picture identification or other accepted official documents for all dependents listed on the tax return. Additionally, bring appropriate tax receipts, statements and a copy of last year’s tax return.
This program is aimed at helping seniors, low income taxpayers (under $50,000) and those who have difficulty with the preparation of their taxes and may not be able to afford professional help. The tax preparation is provided by Saratoga County VITA, Drake Nilsson, Coordinator, and is not a provided library service. The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library is classified as a Special District Public Library and is located in Southern Saratoga County in upstate NY. The Library is a member of the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) which serves Hamilton, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties.
